The use of backlight is a very powerful way to make your images look even more dramatic. The light source can either come from your strobe, an open window, street lights etc. All you have to do is to position your subject in such a way to make the most of this lighting.

I prefer to use snoot and color gels to create most of my backlights in my photoshoots. This will enable me to have more control on the composition as well as the position of the light source. Here are some examples of backlit images taken recently.

Tighten The Belt

With our current economic situation, a lot of us had to tighten our belts one way or the other to make ends meet. Don't give up hope and keep the spirits up! :)

I have been so busy with work that I've not had the time to update my blog :( Had a lot of photoshoots over the last few weeks that I'm now backloged in photo Anyways on top of adding new speedlites to my gears, I've also managed to find new techniques to shoot the night portraitures.

As with all good things, it all starts with a good seed which we have to nurture it daily and so that was the topic for last night's photoshoot of Kristen and Lee :)

Full series can be viewed in my flickr stream :
